I haven't done extensive testing and comparisons between LREnfuse which I have used happily for years and Adobe's new HDR Merge feature - I am just pleased its now been added as an option which means it should continue to improve over time. This one has been long overdue! You can now merge your bracketed exposures directly in Lightroom 6 without using a 3rd party plug-in like LREnfuse.
I have tested the performance of Lightroom with this feature on and off and it does make a difference when turned on. There are some known compatibility issues with this on some ATI and AMD graphics cards so if after turning it on in your Performance Preferences it doesn't work then it may be worth you reading the following thread.
